Valos has been performing with their typewriter since 2016, starting in Berlin, and has also compiled a book of poetry. Gabriella Presnal

Gabriella Presnal, selected as the tenth Summer Artist of the City of Seinäjoki, brings the Meadow Pods art project to the festival area. The project consists of hollow, hanging sculptures filled with wildflower seeds.

The project draws inspiration from celebratory rituals involving breaking, smashing, or destruction such as Mexican piñatas, Greek Orthodox botides traditions, and folk customs connected to celebrating spring and harvests. In many of these rituals, destruction symbolizes renewal, hope, and the cycle of nature. The Meadow Pods sculptures continue this idea by asking who gets to celebrate and how we celebrate. As the sculptures break apart, they scatter seeds into their surroundings, symbolizing a better future and the relationship between humans and nature.

On Saturday, the Finnish-American artist will invite festivalgoers to destroy the sculptures, releasing the seeds into the environment around them.

Irtiotto

Irtiotto, an alternative event concept focused on daytime parties, is making its way to Provinssi. The Tampere-based DJ collective picks the brightest gems from the currents of world music and gets festivalgoers into the celebration spirit through dance and shared encounters.

Kennelliiton kaverikoirat

Kennelliiton Kaverikoirat are once again bringing good vibes and furry friends ready for cuddles to the festival area this summer!

The Finnish Kennel Club’s Kaverikoira (“Buddy Dog”) program is volunteer work in which trained dog handlers share the companionship of their dogs to bring joy to others. Kaverikoirat visit a variety of groups and locations, including care homes, assisted living facilities, daycare centers, and public events. For many people, the presence of a dog brings back memories and creates feelings of safety, comfort, and warmth.

You’ll find the dogs at the Friend Tent in the People’s Park (Ihmisten Puisto) area. It’s the perfect place to head if you’re looking for a little breather or a softer counterbalance to a day full of concerts.

Kaverikoira activities are entirely voluntary and always carried out according to the wellbeing of the dogs. That’s why these furry friends are only available during limited daytime hours and retreat to rest once the evening arrives.

If you need a grounding moment during your festival day, you know where to go. 🐾
