Maustetytöt

Maustetytöt, which delves deeply into the Finnish soul in a unique way, is both familiar and completely in a world of its own. Guitarist Anna Karjalainen and keyboardist Kaisa Karjalainen’s catchy melodies, combined with insightful lyrics that reflect the realities of life, form a recognizable whole that stands out from everything else. The duo, which has also gained international attention, has established itself as one of Finland’s most beloved bands. In the words of The New York Times critic Esther Zuckerman, Maustetytöt is an impossibly cool modern Finnish duo, and we can only nod in agreement.

Maustetytöt, who masterfully combine laconic Finnish disco and melancholic pop in their music, will release their fourth studio album, Itken jos mua huvittaa onnenpäivänä , on Friday, March 13, just in time for the Provinssi summer festival. Recorded and produced in Gothenburg, the album represents a return to the duo’s roots: “We wanted to find the most analog, warm-sounding soundscape possible,” says the band, which will perform on the intimate Amphitheatre stage on Friday, June 26.
