The Prodigy

British music legend The Prodigy returns to Provinssi! The primitive sounds of this electronic music pioneer will shake your auditory nerves with their dangerously and intesly pulsating beats. Rated among the world’s best live bands, the group’s stunning visual show is guaranteed to elevate Törnäväsaari to new heights next June, when the Provinssi audience will experience the unique energy that has made The Prodigy one of the most influential names in music history.

Formed in Essex in the early 1990s, The Prodigy’s breakthrough album Music for the Jilted Generation (1994) pushed the boundaries of electronic music with its fusion of techno, breakbeat, and punk. Currently working on new music, The Prodigy is known for its ability to constantly evolve its sound, always with an eye on the future. The band’s other founding member, Liam Howlett, describes the upcoming production as a tribute to Keith Flint, whose influence can still be heard in the band’s music, as well as a return to their deeper evil rave roots.

In Provinssi we can expect classics from Voodoo People to Firestarter, as well as more recent hits that prove the band is still the undisputed number one in its genre. The intense live experience is complemented by a skillfully constructed visual effects, where lights, projections, and stage structures create a hypnotic environment. Over the years, the band has had a special relationship with Finnish audiences, who have welcomed their ferociously high-energy shows with exceptional enthusiasm, as those lucky enough to have been at Törnävä in 1997 and 2014 can testify.
